The Masters of the Five Magics sought power through discipline, knowledge,
and magic. Conjurers, Transmuters, Necromancers, and Invokers all possessed
enough raw magical power to pursue their rigorous methods. Most important
of all was the discipline required for this grueling education; which was so
intense that it had to be begun very early in life, and that no one with a
chaotic nature could possibly complete it. Masters kept to a rigorous training
schedule, honing their minds constantly in an effort to remain in the Tower to
study further. Lastly the Masters found their power in their minds and magic,
not in the weapons they carried or their physical combat abilities. Masters
preferred to find intellectual solutions to problems, shunning physical
confrontation and attacking only in retaliation and self-defense. Their only
true enemies were those who would preserve Nature, for they believed Nature
must be cleared away so that Magic may flourish.
In their endless search for more power, and a betrayal by their final leader,
the Masters' Tower was destroyed and the knowledge therein scattered....
