Balance. What is it to be balanced? Wise men have asked that question, and no
answer has been the same. Apathy may be considered a balanced point of view,
but those of the Nexus feel quite the opposite. In fact, those who are
apathetic encourage a lack of balance in the world.
Those who dwell within the Nexus actively maintain the Balance between the
major forces of this world - Good and Evil, Order and Chaos - but also seek to
make certain that Magic remains strong, but not dangerous.
The life of a Nexun can be a lonely one. Serving only the Balance, a Nexun can
never truly be a friend to anyone who stands too strongly at one end of the
spectrum. To serve the Balance, a Nexun may need to save the life of a paladin
one day and kill the same paladin the next.
The powers of the Nexus are vast and varied, but nearly all deal with the
Bond. Members of the Nexus are the most deadly in combat when they fight in
pairs - magi and fighter. The various traits and skills of the fighter are in
some ways transfered to the magi, and vice versa - making the pair much
stronger than simply the sum of their parts. Though rare, priests who serve
the balance of Nexus may bond with either fighters or magi, and will naturally
act as the opposing type.
Any race and class combination that is True Neutral (Neutral in alignment and
Neutral in ethos) may join the Nexus.
Drained of its power after the sounding of the horn of fate, the Nexus no
longer accepts any applicants.
